CANNABIS

Cannabis is often confused with hemp. Although hemp and cannabis both belong to the same genus of the cannabis family, hemp does not have marijuana strains that contain psychoactive compounds. Cannabis does. What we sell in the shop are cannabis products. We use the term 'cannabis' as a reference to the main products of this special plant; weed and hash. There are different types of cannabis plants with varying effects, but it is usually the Sativa and Indica that are used as a means (often as 'hybrids'; crosses with other strains) in our shop. The strains differ in appearance and effect. Because we can determine the exact composition thanks to laboratory testing, the effects can also be better predicted.

USage

Cannabis is mostly smoked, which is called ‘blowing’, ‘klappen’ or ‘smoking’. The weed or hash is usually crumbled between tobacco in a rolled cigarette (a ‘joint’), but can also be smoked pure (a ‘stick’ or ‘reefer’). It can also be smoked in a pipe (chillum), in a water pipe (bong), or with a vaporizer. The effect starts after a few minutes and lasts for about two to four hours.

Sometimes weed or hash is incorporated into food (such as in a ‘space cake’) or in a drink (such as in tea). The effect is harder to dose, because it takes much longer for it to enter the bloodstream via the stomach than when smoked. It can take one to four hours before an effect occurs. The effects also last longer.

When cannabis is eaten, it is more difficult to dose and the chance of a bad trip increases, especially when additional use occurs while waiting for the effect to start.

De Ambassade does not sell edibles with hash or weed.

RISkS

Those who don't want to take risks are better off not using it. This applies to all drugs, including cannabis. Cannabis use always carries risks. The higher the THC content, the faster and stronger the intoxication. Inexperienced individuals can accidentally use too much of cannabis with high THC concentration and run into problems.

If one consumes too much THC, they may experience strong hallucinations ('flipping'), nausea, or become anxious (a 'bad trip'). High THC levels can also be dangerous for individuals with heart problems.

DO NoT USE when...

...you are a minor.

...you are trying to conceive, pregnant, or breastfeeding.

...you are mentally vulnerable or have mental health issues.

This is because you are at a higher risk of developing cannabis psychosis. Cannabis use can also worsen an existing psychotic disorder.

...je have lung or heart problems.
Smoking cannabis is harmful to the lungs. Additionally, it causes your blood pressure to drop and your heart rate to increase.

...you are in a public place or if there are minors present.

Nobody wants to deal with legal problems involving the police and the court.

TIPS

To be bought only in a coffee shop and to seek advice. This way you prevent getting a contaminated or too strong product.

To be used only when feeling physically and mentally well. On a bad day, the chance is high that cannabis will make you feel worse.

To be used in moderation: not every day, but occasionally or on a special occasion.

Not to be used to suppress problems.

To leave your car, moped or bicycle aside if you have used cannabis.

Not to be used during/before school, study or work.

Not to panic if you feel sick, confused or anxious after using hash or weed. It often passes on its own within an hour. Eat or drink something sweet and find a quiet place.
